SAMURAI OF THE DIAMOND
Robert Vargas's mural Samurai of the Diamond celebrates three Japanese stars of the Los Angeles Dodgers: Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Roki Sasaki. After LA Rising, SED brought another Vargas mural to life with augmented reality, and this time the mural throws a pitch at you.

Problem
An animation overlaid on a mural stays flat on the wall. We wanted a moment where the artwork reaches out and makes the viewer part of the scene.
Solution
As Ohtani winds up and delivers, the 2D animation hands off to a 3D baseball that leaves the wall and flies straight at the viewer. Its path is calculated from each person's position, so it always passes right by them.
Result
Everyone in the crowd gets their own pitch. Front and center or off to the side, the ball flies right past you.
